Yesterday evening, Cite celebrated the release of its new 30th anniversary issue at Gensler, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary. The Gensler offices are located in Pennzoil Place. The 45-degree geometry of Philip Johnson and John Burgee's design, completed in 1976, is still stunning. The party began just as smartly dressed downtown workers streamed out of the highrises and waited in line for commuter buses on Louisiana Street. No one made speeches or drew wild visions of the future this time around. It was an evening of good conversation and taking pleasure in design.
