2 Houston Center

Join us for Rice Design Alliance's first Young Professionals Studio Visit of 2020 at Gensler’s new spaces at 2 Houston Center.

Gensler is a global design and architecture firm with a team of over 6,000. Founded in 1965 by Art Gensler, his wife Drue Gensler, and their associate James Follett, the firm originally focused on corporate interiors, pioneering interiors for newly constructed office buildings, including San Francisco’s Alcoa (1967) and Bank of America (1969) buildings. Gensler grew rapidly with offices opening around the U.S. in the 1970s and 1980s and then overseas in the 1980s and 1990s.

The firm has since diversified and now offers services in Architecture, Brand Design, Consulting & Real Estate, Digital Experience, Interior Design, Sustainability, and Planning and Urban Design, covering a wide range of markets and project scales across the globe.

Houston’s Gensler offices were established in 1972, to provide interior design services for Pennzoil Company's corporate headquarters, where they were established for the past 47 years.

In 2019, Gensler moved their offices to 2 Houston Center, the space we will visit during this Studio Visit, where we’ll learn more about their past and future projects and their new and much talked about open space office environment.

Space is limited and RSVP is required. You must be a current RDA Young Professional member to attend. For questions or to renew your membership, please contact Ashley Tagle, Associate Director of Development, at ashley.tagle@rice.edu or 713.348.5670.
