Balance

April 7 to 8, 2018
1:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

To create, design, and shape the built environment, leadership requires collaboration across disciplines. To encourage and celebrate the contributions of diverse viewpoints and recognize the evolving nature of our communities and societal norms, join the Rice Design Alliance for its 43rd annual architecture tour. BALANCE: Celebrating Women in Design highlights seven women whose efforts on six projects demonstrate their leadership and indefatigable commitment to a better Houston. The strengths of their stories will unfold over the next several weeks as these practitioners share their personal and professional journeys, perspectives on practicing amidst complexities, discuss issues such as gender equity, diversity and leadership and what changes and challenges lie ahead.

Chaired by Rice Architecture graduates Jacki Craig Schafer, ’08, and Christopher White, ’08, this citywide tour takes place on April 7-8, 2018 from 1- 6 p.m.

Current RDA members may purchase discounted tickets for $25. RDA membership is open to all! Presale tickets for non-members are available for $30 until March 23rd. After March 23rd, tickets go up to $35 for non-members; tickets are $15 for students with ID. Tickets are non-refundable.

Each ticket provides access to all six locations as well as the RDA tour app which provides audio curation at each location.

The Architecture Tour is made possible by RDA Underwriters: Louisa Stude Sarofim, Cardno, D.E. Harvey Builders, DPR Construction and Stantec, and Walter P Moore; with sponsorship support from Avadek Canopies & Walkway Covers, and by grants from the City of Houston through the Houston Arts Alliance and the Texas Commission for the Arts.
