Xperiment: EaDo Street – Community Event

What would pedestrian oriented streets look like in EaDo?

This was the question posed by the Rice Design Alliance this Janurary in the rdAGENTS Design Charrette, titled X-Change: EaDo Crossroads. Architect, planner, artist and student teams spend their saturday redesigning a block in EaDo that illustrated how proactive design solutions can yield active, engaging, and safer streets. A juror of community leaders and architects selected the winning design by Asakura Robinson.

As a follow up, Asakura Robinson, East Downtown Management District and Rice Design Alliance are collaborating to jump start the proposed phase one of this redesign through a street experiment.

On Saturday, April 29th from 9am to 1pm, join the East Downtown Management District, Asakura Robinson, and Rice Design Alliance to help us with implementing phase 1 of the vision for a pedestrian friendly block. Material will be provided for installing art work that will bring this vision to reality for the day in the intersection of Dallas Street and Live Oak Street (adjacent to Houston Sports Creek). Bring your pets, family, street chalk, musical instrument, soccer ball and even furniture to join us in this community event. Food and drinks will be available on site for sale.
